From the moment you walk up to Ladurée until the moment you leave you feel nothing less than dazzled. The ambience of this place made me feel like I was in the heart of paris and was going to see the Eiffel Tower when I walked straight out of the building.
Ladurée located in Georgetown in D.C.
As soon as I walked up to the building I was mesmerized by the exterior of the French shop. The architecture and the simplicity of the store sign was so beautiful. I had dreamed of coming to Ladurée since I was in middle school but never got the chance. The French feel, the colors, and the exclusivity of it all is what drew me to it in the first place.
When you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice are beautiful chandeliers placed right about the pastry counter.
The workers were dressed in professional business clothes and had french accents. I’m not too sure if that is a requirement when applying for a job here but it added to the overall experience.
The assortment of pastries and goodies was too much for my sweet tooth to handle! Macarons come out to $2.80 when you buy them individually. I ended up just ordering six macarons for a total price of $21. At that price I was able to secure one of their signature boxes that I still have to this day. The colors they had for the boxes were: pink, tiffany blue, and a mint green to choose from; I went with the green one. It does seem a little bit bizarre to spend that much money on cookies but I don’t think it is a bad price for the experience. At least that’s what I told myself when I swiped my credit card.Another interesting thing about Laudurée is that they do not charge tax! Isn’t that insane! You pay the price that is advertised. At the back of the store you can find a nice seating area where you can have a cup of tea, order a specialty desert, or even a meal. Individuals sometimes go there to eat breakfast and have their morning coffee or go there to eat lunch. I wish I lived in Georgetown to be able to do that!
They even give you this cute dainty bag that makes you want to just jump on an airplane and fly to Paris.
Macaron flavors from left to right: Orange Blossom, Blackcurrant Violet, Rose Petal, Chestnut, Vanilla, Cherry Blossom
Would I go back? Heck yes! These were the best macarons I have ever had in my life! The way they crumble in your mouth so delicately, the french atmosphere, the interior design, the packaging. I loved it all.
